Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a ‘talking therapy’ which helps us to: identify the unhelpful thoughts, emotions
and behaviours that are keeping us stuck; establish the links between the way we think,
feel and behave; and experiment with changing our ways in a safe and structured manner.
CBT primarily focuses on issues in the ‘here and now’ and is goal-oriented and time-limited. It is also evidence- based and recommended by both the NHS and NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Sessions last 50 minutes (a ‘therapeutic hour’) and therapy typically lasts between six and eighteen sessions.
